Frequently Asked Question

How do I configure Android Mail for Ausics?
Last Updated 5 years ago

The following instructions are for older clients and devices, the current and recommended method for modern clients and devices is to use autoconfig, which will upon you entering your email address ask the server for its preferred settings and configure your mail client for you, only requiring you to enter in your password when asked to.

It's important before you start, to consider how you want your mail, it's much like a pizza, you have a few options

If you want to download all your mail onto one PC and delete it off the server every time you check mail, then you use the older method of POP3/POP3s.

However the default, and most commonly used method IMAP, is for those who want to access their Email from multiple devices (eg: home computers, phone and tablet) all at the same time, and from anywhere.

The use of IMAP means your mail stays on the server, as such, our server automatically monitors your quota usage and will warn you once you reach 75%, then 85%, and again as your mailbox reaches capacity at 95%. That will take some doing, as we are pretty generous with our quotas.

* Do not mix protocols, use the default IMAP, or POP3, and stick to it. If you create or use sub folders in IMAP, but you login with POP3, you will not have access to those messages, until you log back in with IMAP or with Webmail.

* No matter which method you choose it is advisable to ensure encryption is enabled for both receiving and sending Email.

* It is also important to note that when using IMAP, our system regards several folders as special, including Junk and Trash. We automatically delete all contents of the Trash folder after 7 days, and Spam folder after 28 days.

* Please make sure you have Internet access before continuing *
