Frequently Asked Question
Accessing Your Voice Mailbox
To access voicemail from your logged in extension, dial 121 (no password required), most phones and softphones have an option to enter this in to enable one button access to voicemail.
If you're on another extension, and want to check your messages, dial 122 you''ll hear "Comedian mail, mailbox" at this point enter your extension, you'll then be prompted for your voicemail password.
If you're not on our network, you can dial our main PSTN number, once the IVR message starts playing you hit * (This will work on any IVR, so you can access it remotely 24 hours a day) you'll then be prompted for extension and password.
First Access - Mailbox Setup
On your first access to voicemail you'll be greeted by Welcome to Comedian mail, you will then be asked to say your name, this is just like you would on the mobile network, so say your first name, your full name, your nickname - however you want to introduce yourself, then push the hash key
You'll then be prompted to press: 1 accept, 2 listen to, or 3 re-record your name
Lastly, you'll need to enter in a new voicemail password followed by the hash key, and of course you'll be asked to confirm it, again followed by the hash key, once this is done, first set up is complete and you'll be given the normal options, if you want to customise your messages, you can do so from the menu option 0
Retrieving Messages
Upon entering voicemail you'll get all the options you need, but since you don't have to wait till Allison finishes reading them all out, a speedy guide to common options is
To listen to your new (and saved) messages, press 1
To hear the message again, press 5
To delete a message (even whilst it's playing), press 7
To save the message, press 9 then select 1 (to save in old messages)
To personalise your greetings or change your voicemail password, press 0
If you are in a sub menu at any time, to exit back to main menu, press *
When done or to exit the voicemail system at any time, press # (or just hang up)
Your voicemail can also be configured to send messages directly to your Email, these messages will still be available in the system for you to retrieve on your phone unless you request otherwise, in doing so, you must make sure you have reliable Email, deleting messages is permanent, because of this, these settings can only be enabled by Ausics.
Notes
Until you are familiar with Comedian Mail, we recommend listening to all options and following the instructions, that way you can't go wrong.
Our system issues MWI signals for those with phones that support it, so you'll know if you missed a call by a quick glance, most hardware phones allow this to be configured, if not by a dedicated bright indicator, by setting one of the BLFs buttons, you will need to consult your phones manual, we use Cisco SPA942 phones, which have this enabled by default.
