ims.ausics.net is a private XMPP (Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol) aka jabber, instant messaging server.

ims is currently in public access mode, where anyone anywhere can create an account automatically from within most XMPP clients to enjoy private communications amongst friends that are not parsed like facebook and google and twitter, to spam you with targeted advertising. 

Using the clients to create an account means unlike facebook, twitter, et al, there is no website signup form where you have to give your life's history with all your personal details, it asks for Email, a username and a password, that should be it, it cares not about where you live or your phone contact.

You should note that your connection IP address is logged against your username, so we can deal with abuse and any spam issues, the server is located in and subject to the laws of, Australia.

Bots and spammers are not tolerated, we will not hesitate to kick your arse off here, and if need be, we will disable public user creations.

Although there is no moderation, we do currently have some geographically located IP blockings.
